Privacy Policy
1. Overview and Core Philosophy
Dex Technologies ("we", "us", or "our") develops Dex Studio (the native desktop AI workstation) and operates https://askdexter.co.
Our core architecture is local-first. Dex Studio runs locally on your Apple Silicon Mac. Your project documents, workspaces, credentials, and local model workflows remain on your device under your explicit control. We do not operate remote telemetry engines that harvest your personal documents or selling your personal data.
2. Google API Services & User Data Policy Disclosures
Dex Studio provides optional native Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors and OAuth integrations allowing users to connect their Google accounts (Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and Slides) to assist with workstation workflows.
Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance:
Dex Studio's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specific Google Scopes and Usage
| Service | Scopes Requested | How Dex Uses This Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google Identity | userinfo.email, userinfo.profile, openid |
Authenticates the user and displays active account connection status within Dex Studio. |
| Google Drive | drive, drive.readonly, drive.file |
Enables local autonomous agent tools to read, search, index, or write documents and files in your Drive strictly when directed by you during a task. |
| Gmail | gmail.readonly, gmail.compose, gmail.modify, gmail.send |
Allows Dex agents to search relevant correspondence, draft email responses, or send approved messages on your instruction via the Gmail connector. |
| Google Calendar | calendar, calendar.events, calendar.readonly |
Enables schedule querying and creating/updating calendar event appointments upon your request. |
| Docs, Sheets & Slides | documents, spreadsheets, presentations |
Allows reading document outlines, spreadsheet formulas, and slide content to synthesize briefings and reports into your workspace deliverables. |
No AI Foundation Model Training on Google User Data:
Dex Studio explicitly prohibits and does not use Google Workspace data (Drive content, Gmail emails, Calendar entries, Docs, Sheets, or Slides) to train, fine-tune, or develop generalized artificial intelligence, machine learning, or foundation models.
3. Data Storage, Security and Retention
- On-Device Token Storage: OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens received from Google are stored encrypted locally on your macOS machine in application sandbox storage / Keychain. Tokens are never transmitted to Dex servers.
- Zero Remote Cloud Relay: When your desktop agent executes a Google MCP tool (e.g. searching a file in Drive or reading an email thread), the HTTP API call is made directly from your computer to Google's official endpoints (
https://www.googleapis.com) via TLS 1.3 encryption. - Retention: Tokens persist only until you disconnect your account or log out. Temporary caching during a session turn is stored locally in temporary SQLite memory and wiped upon session clearance.
4. User Rights, Disconnection and Data Revocation
You maintain continuous, unconditional authority over your connected accounts:
- In-App Disconnection: You can disconnect your Google account at any time within Dex Studio by opening Settings > Connectors and clicking Disconnect. This immediately deletes the stored OAuth tokens from your local device.
- Google Account Revocation: You can revoke Dex's permissions at any time directly through your Google Account Security Dashboard at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Data Deletion Requests: Because Dex does not store your Google data on remote servers, revoking access or uninstalling the app deletes all local credentials immediately. If you have any inquiries, you can contact us at
[email protected].
5. Information Sharing and Disclosure
Dex Studio does not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your personal data or Google API user data to third parties. We do not participate in advertising networks or data broker exchanges.
